Day Tags: Leave Unusual Days Out of Analytic Orders

Every shop has a few days that don't look like the rest. Maybe a hurricane closed you for two days, a lounge event sold three times your usual, or you ran out of a best seller for a week. If TORO counted those days like any other, your analytic purchase orders would order too little after a slow stretch, or too much after a big one.

Day tags fix that. Tag an odd day Ignore for Analytic Orders and TORO works out how fast each item sells from your normal days only.

How the Tag Changes Your Orders

TORO leaves a tagged day out completely. Its sales don't count, and neither does the day itself. So if your order looks at the last 30 days and two of them are tagged, TORO works out how fast things sell from the other 28 days. Your sell-through rate stays honest instead of getting dragged down by a closed day.

If your store orders through ASH Ordering, the tag applies there too.

One safety net: if you've tagged almost every day an order looks at, leaving fewer than 7 normal days, TORO ignores the tags for that order. It won't guess from just a handful of days.

Tagging a Day at the End-of-Day Close

The easiest time to tag a day is when you close out. If the day's sales are well above or below normal, TORO asks you to tag the day. Pick Ignore for Analytic Orders from the list if the day shouldn't shape what you reorder.

You can learn more about the close in Closing Out at the End of the Day.

Tagging Past Days with the Day Tags Card

Forgot to tag a day, or want to tag a whole week at once? Go to the Purchasing tab of your dashboard and open the Day Tags card.

  1. Set the date range at the top. It opens on the last 90 days.
  2. Each day is listed with any tags it already has.
  3. Pick Ignore for Analytic Orders from the tag list.
  4. Select the days you want. Hold Ctrl or Shift to select several.
  5. Click Add Tag to Selected Days.

To undo it, select the days and click Remove Tag from Selected Days. Tick Only days with this tag to see just the days you've already tagged. It's a quick way to check what's being left out.

One-Off Wholesale Orders

Day tags cover your retail sales only. They don't affect wholesale invoices.

If a wholesale account places a big order you don't expect again, open that invoice and tick Leave out of analytic orders. Your analytic purchase orders then won't count it as sales. The invoice, its payments and your inventory don't change, and you can tick or untick it any time, even after the invoice is paid. See Wholesale Operations for more.

When to Use It

  • Closed or short hours for weather, a power outage or a holiday you don't normally take
  • A one-time event or sale that sold far more than usual
  • A stretch where a popular item was out of stock, so its sales were low only because you couldn't sell it

Don't tag your regular busy days, like every Saturday or your yearly holiday rush. Those are real demand, and you want TORO ordering for them.
