Tab Management

A tab enables customers to make credit purchases that accumulate until payment. This feature is particularly useful in cigar lounges where patrons buy drinks or cigars throughout a visit and settle when departing. Tabs are account-dependent.

Opening a Tab

Initiate a transaction on the main POS interface. Attach a customer to the transaction (required — tabs are tied to accounts). Add items normally. Select Tab as the payment method at checkout. Items are recorded without immediate payment collection.

Viewing and Closing Tabs

Look up the customer's account to see their current tab balance and individual transactions. To close a tab, access the customer's account, view the balance, and process payment through your chosen method (cash, credit card, etc.). The system accepts partial payments, allowing customers to pay portions of their balance.

Tab Movement

Access Tab Management tools to transfer items between customer accounts, with charges transferring along with the merchandise.

Key Considerations

  • A customer account is required to use tabs
  • Tab limits can be configured per customer or store-wide
  • Tabs carry over between visits
  • Managers can review all open tabs from management tools
  • Tab payments can be partial
  • Tabs appear in reports for balance tracking
