Payment Methods Overview
TORO supports multiple payment methods for checkout flexibility. Each method is tracked separately in reports.
Cash
Customer pays with physical currency. Enter the amount tendered. TORO calculates change automatically. Tracked in drawer totals.
Credit/Debit Card
Processed through a connected terminal. Approved transactions complete automatically. Refunds go back to the original card. Batch settlement occurs at end of day.
Gift Certificate
Paper-based store credit with a unique code. Enter the gift certificate ID number. Remaining balance stays on the certificate.
Virtual Gift Card
Physical swipe card loaded with store credit. Swipe the gift card on the card terminal. Remaining balance stays on the card.
Tab
Charges to a customer's running tab. Requires a customer account to be attached. Accumulated charges paid later.
Account Credit
Uses credit balance on the customer's account. Requires a customer account attached. Can originate from refunds issued as store credit.
Other/Custom
Stores can configure custom methods. Examples include employee discounts or house accounts.
Splitting Payments
You can use multiple payment methods on a single transaction by selecting a method, entering a partial amount, then selecting the next method for the remaining balance.
