Gift Certificates and Virtual Gift Cards
TORO supports two types of store credit: traditional gift certificates (paper-based with unique codes) and virtual gift cards (digital, tied to a physical swipe card). Both can be sold and redeemed as payment.
Gift Certificates
Selling
Add a Gift Certificate item to the transaction. Enter the dollar amount. Process payment. TORO generates a unique certificate ID. Write the ID on a physical certificate or print it on the receipt.
Redeeming
During checkout, tap Pay. Select Gift Certificate. Enter the certificate ID (or look it up). TORO shows the remaining balance. Purchase amount is deducted.
Looking Up
Use the Gift Certificate Find tool from Dashboard or during payment. Search by certificate ID. View balance and purchase/redemption history.
Virtual Gift Cards
Selling
Add a Virtual Gift Card item. Enter the dollar amount to load. Swipe the physical gift card on the terminal. Process payment. Card is ready to use.
Redeeming
Tap Pay. Select Gift Card. Swipe the gift card on the terminal. TORO reads the card and checks the balance. Purchase amount is deducted.
Checking Balance
Look up the customer's account or use Gift Card lookup tools from the Dashboard. View current balance and transaction history.
