Credit Card Processing Setup
To accept credit and debit card payments through TORO, you need an active merchant account and a compatible card terminal. TORO integrates with your payment processor so card transactions flow directly through the POS without manual entry.
Prerequisites
- An active merchant account with a supported payment processor
- A compatible card terminal (contact TORO support for recommended models)
- Your merchant account credentials (merchant ID, terminal ID, API keys)
- A stable internet connection for card authorization
Setup Steps
- 1 Connect the card terminal to your POS device or network
- 2 Navigate to Settings from the Dashboard (requires manager/admin access)
- 3 Go to Payment Processing settings
- 4 Select your payment processor from the list of supported providers
- 5 Enter your merchant account credentials
- 6 Configure the terminal connection (USB, Bluetooth, or IP address)
- 7 Run a test transaction to verify the integration
- 8 Save your settings
Batch Settlement
At the end of each business day, credit card transactions should be settled (batched). This sends all approved transactions to the processor for funding. Some processors settle automatically; others require manual batch close from TORO's Dashboard.
Key Points
- Card processing requires an internet connection
- TORO supports chip (EMV), tap (NFC/contactless), and swipe transactions
- Tip prompts can be enabled on the terminal
- Refunds to credit cards are processed through the same terminal
- Contact TORO support if you need help with processor setup
- Card transaction data is encrypted and never stored on the POS device
