Creating a New Item
When new merchandise arrives at your store, you need to add it to TORO's inventory before it can be sold. Creating a new item involves entering product details, pricing, category, and optionally assigning barcodes and stock quantities.
How to Create a New Item
- 1 Navigate to Inventory Management from the Dashboard
- 2 Tap New Item or Add Item
- 3 Enter the item name (required)
- 4 Select a category for the item (e.g., Premium Cigars, Accessories, Beverages)
- 5 Set the retail price and optionally the cost price
- 6 Assign a SKU or let TORO generate one automatically
- 7 Optionally scan or enter a barcode
- 8 Set the initial stock quantity on hand
- 9 Configure tax settings for the item
- 10 Save the item
Item Fields
- Item Name — the display name used in search and on receipts
- Category — organizes the item for browsing and reporting
- Retail Price — the selling price shown at checkout
- Cost Price — your wholesale cost, used for margin calculations
- SKU — a unique identifier for the product
- Barcode — the UPC or custom barcode for scanning
- Tax — applicable tax rates or exemptions
- Quantity on Hand — current inventory level

- Multiple barcodes can be assigned to a single item
- Items can be imported in bulk via CSV for large inventory loads
- Inventory quantities are adjusted automatically as items are sold or returned
