TORO v7.69.828.838

November 1, 2026

📋 Release Overview

The Membership module has been rebuilt. A discount level can now have more than one membership, there's one screen to start, change or end a membership, and TORO can bring in payments Paya collected that TORO never recorded. The highlights are below, and full details follow.

🏅 A rebuilt Membership module

  • More than one membership per level — for example, Gold Monthly and Gold Annual both give the Gold discounts.
  • Start, change or end a membership in one place — pick the plan and the card, see exactly what gets charged, and TORO sets up the recurring billing.
  • Charge for a partial month — when someone joins between billing days, charge for just the days left, ask each time, or let those days go free.
  • Import past payments — TORO finds membership charges in Paya that it never recorded and fills in the history.

⚡ Everything else

  • Salary Hours and Payroll Setup fixes, a wider Manage Employees window, and read-only boxes you can tell apart from editable ones.

📖 Detailed Updates in This Release…

🏅 More Than One Membership Per Discount Level

Gold Monthly and Gold Annual, both giving the Gold discounts.

Until now a discount level could only be one membership, so a store that wanted a monthly and an annual version of the same plan had to keep two copies of the discount level. Now a membership is its own thing and points at a discount level. Set up Gold Monthly at $85 a month and Gold Annual at $900 a year, point both at Gold, and members on either plan get the same discounts.

Each membership has its own item, price, how often it bills, and a monthly gift card credit. You also choose when that credit loads. Monthly loads the first month’s credit at the sale and then one each month. Up front loads every month the customer paid for right away. The price always comes from the membership’s item, so if you change the item’s price, the membership follows. View Members lists who is on each membership.

Your existing memberships carry over as they are. Nothing changes on day one. A customer can also have a discount level without being a member, and TORO now keeps those two things separate.

How to activate: Membership module → Membership Setup → Add Membership, then pick the discount level it gives.

🤝 Start, Change or End a Membership From One Screen

Pick the plan, pick the card, see the charge, done. TORO sets up the recurring billing for you.

A customer’s account details now have a Membership panel. If they aren’t a member, you see a Start Membership button. If they are, you see their membership, what they’re paid through, and Change Membership, End Membership and View History buttons.

Start Membership walks you through it. Pick the membership, then a card on file (or add one), and TORO shows exactly what happens before anything is charged: today’s amount, which months it covers, and the date and amount of the first automatic charge. When you confirm, TORO charges the card, records the sale and the paid months, applies the discount level, loads the gift card credit, and sets up the recurring charge in Paya. No more setting up the schedule in PayaConnect by hand.

Charge for Partial Month. Memberships are charged on one day of the month (the 1st unless you pick another day in Membership Settings). When someone joins mid-month, each membership can Always charge for the days left, Ask each time, or Never charge. Example: an $85 monthly membership started on October 10th with partial month charged is $60.32 today, then $85 on the 1st of every month. Without it, they pay $85 today for November and the rest of October is free.

End Membership puts the customer back on the discount level they had before they joined and offers to cancel their recurring charge in Paya. View History shows every membership period (started on, by whom, ended on, by whom) above a full log of everything that happened on the membership.

You can also start a membership without opening the account first. Set Up Membership is on the Dashboard under Customers and in the main screen’s Customer menu.

How to activate: Open a customer’s account details → Membership → Start Membership. Set the billing day in Membership module → Settings → Recurring billing day.

📥 Import Past Membership Payments From Paya

Charges Paya collected but TORO never recorded, filled in for you.

If you ran memberships before using the module, or a recurring charge went through in Paya without being recorded in TORO, the history in TORO has gaps. Import Past Payments looks through your past recurring charges in Paya, matches each one to a customer, and shows you what TORO is missing before it changes anything.

Once you confirm, TORO records the missing sales and paid months and puts current members on the right membership. Anything that doesn’t match cleanly goes to a short review where you look at one customer at a time. Imported payments don’t load gift card credit, so nobody gets credit again for months that have already passed.

How to activate: Membership module → Import Past Payments (also in Membership Settings and on a customer’s account).

🧾 Memberships at the Register

Ring up the membership item and TORO knows which plan it is.

Every membership has its own item, and an item can belong to only one membership. When you ring up a membership’s item for a customer, TORO sets them up on that membership with its discount level and credit. If they’re already on a different membership, TORO asks before switching them, and the default answer is No.

Voiding a membership sale also takes back its gift card credit, the same way voiding any other sale does. When a renewal is declined and the membership is set to remove discounts on decline, the customer goes to no discount level but stays on the membership. Their next paid renewal puts the discounts back.

🔧 Under the Hood

  • Salary Hours opens even with older hours. Hours clocked before your payroll start date no longer stop the Salary Hours screen from loading. They're left out because they aren't in any pay period.
  • Payroll can start on a future date. Payroll Setup now lets you set a start date that hasn’t arrived yet.
  • Manage Employees is wider. The window is wider, so its columns aren’t cut off.
  • Read-only boxes look read-only. Boxes you can’t type in are now a darker grey, so they no longer look like empty fields waiting for input.
  • A cleaner Purchase Order and Wholesale settings screen. The settings are now grouped into clear Receiving and Email sections.
  • Startup tells you what it’s doing. While TORO starts, the loading screen now says when it’s loading your card processors and checking your module licenses, instead of sitting on an earlier message.
  • Working offline works when support turns it on. During an internet problem, TORO support can switch a station to work offline. That switch was being ignored whenever any connection got through. It works now, and card payments can still go through when support allows them.
  • A proper welcome for brand-new stores. When a new store activates its first station, it now gets a welcome message instead of a confusing “main station changed” notice.
  • Discount levels used by a membership are protected. TORO won’t delete a discount level that a membership gives. You can make it inactive instead.
