Creating a New Member
When a new customer visits your store and wants to join your membership program, you can create their account directly from the POS. New member accounts enable loyalty tracking, tab functionality, purchase history, and targeted marketing.
How to Create a New Member
- 1 Tap the Customer button on the POS screen or navigate to Account Management
- 2 Tap New Member or Create Account
- 3 Enter the customer's first and last name (required)
- 4 Enter their phone number and/or email address
- 5 Optionally fill in additional fields: mailing address, date of birth, notes, and preferences
- 6 Save the account
- 7 The new member is automatically attached to the current transaction (if one is open)
Account Fields
- First Name / Last Name — required fields for the account
- Phone Number — used for search and text marketing (if enabled)
- Email Address — used for search and email marketing
- Date of Birth — useful for birthday promotions and age verification
- Address — optional mailing address
- Notes — free-form notes about the customer's preferences
Key Points
- New members start with zero loyalty points and zero tab balance
- TORO checks for duplicate accounts based on phone number and email
- Account information can be edited later from the account lookup screen
- Customers can also be created during the search process if no results are found
- The membership program can be customized in your store settings
