Choosing Which Sku Goes on the Sale

If you sell something in more than one size — singles and boxes, a single shot and a double — TORO has to decide which one lands on the sale when your cashier taps the item button.

Until now that decision was made for you: it always grabbed the sku with the fewest items in it. For most shops that's right, because most shops sell singles. For a bar selling mostly doubles, it meant correcting every single sale.

Setting It

Open the item and click Set Transaction Sku, then pick the sku your customers usually buy.

From then on, that's what lands on the transaction from the item button, the brand grid, and search.

Reading the Sku Table

Two columns on the sku table are marked in green, and they mean different things:

  • MASTER — the master sku, used for profit calculations.
  • TRANS SKU — the one that goes on a sale by default.

Green marks the chosen sku in each column. If you haven't set a transaction sku, the green block sits on the smallest sku, which is exactly what TORO would have used anyway — so the column always tells you the truth about what your cashier is about to get.

Scanning Is Unaffected

Scanning a barcode rings up exactly the sku that was scanned, every time. That's the whole point of a barcode, and this setting doesn't interfere with it.

So a shop that sets its transaction sku to the box still sells singles normally by scanning them.

If You Don't Touch It

Nothing changes. Stores that never open this button behave precisely as they did before — smallest sku on the sale. This is here for the shops it was quietly costing time.
